Sarno is located at the foot of the Sarno Mount and is crossed by the river Sarno. Its territory was conquered by the Oscans, the Samnites and the Romans. The charming Villa del Balzo, a patrician villa with a very beautiful garden, today houses the Sarno regional Park.In this town, you can still see the remains of the Roman Aqueduct of the Serino, the longest in Italy (almost a hundred kilometres) and still an integral part of the Campania's water system.In addition to the picturesque historic centre, called "Terravecchia", merit a visit:- Foce Archaeologica site, where the remains of a Roman theatre are still visible;- St. Maria di Foce's Sanctuary and Madonna delle Tre Corone's one;- monuments in honour of Mariano Abignete;- Napoli and Buchy palaces.
